Why Melanoma is developed?
Melanoma is caused by the amount of melanin in a persons skin and the amount of sun exposure they get. The lighter a persons skin is, the more chance they have of getting skin cancer. A person with darker skin is less likely to get melanoma. This is all because the pigment in our skin, called melanin. The UV rays of the sun are not the only things causing this cancer. People who use tanning beds are exposing themselves to high UV rays which is another leading cause.
Eventually after the skin getting beat up so much from the sun it causes genetic defects and the body will produce extra skin cells at a very fast pace. Which will later on form into Malignant Tumors and are very cancerous.
Having a specific skin tone can increase the chances of developing it greatly. Having a darker skin tone DOES NOT mean that there is no chance of getting melanoma, but risks are lot lower. Having darker skin helps because there is a lot more pigment in the skin, which helps protect from UV rays. Caucasians pigment is weaker, but a study done was done in July 2016 in The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. There research actually turned out different than some may think. Showing that people with a darker skin tone are more likely to not survive from Melanoma then people without color.
